Talking about – detailed explanation what it specifically means
Facebook has recently launched several new features and insights statistics that would allow page managers better insight into how many people aciheve certain reach and what is their quality of interaction considering number of their Facebook fans. That metric is still quite confusing and there is a lot of speculations what it exacty means and how to observe new statistics for your brand page, so we decided to make a brief analysis of the new insights options. Also, we used Socialnumbers to get average of this metric by countrys and categories to make ti easier for brands to compare are their numbers above or below average among similiar and equal brands.
What is talking about index?
People talking about is public metric wich includes people who had interaction with your page in last seven days. It also includes the following items: number of unique user that liked, commented or shared your post, answered on Facebook question, or responded on event invitation.
We also analyzed pages and came to the conclusion that it includes number of new fans in that time period.
What is not talking about index?
That metric doesn't means how many people see the status. Number of people who see status is much bigger. Also it doesn't menas how many people has clicked on the link in the status.
What is the Weekly total reach in insights?
Number of unique users who have seen some kind of content associated with your page (including ads and sponsored stories that link to the page) in last seven days.
What are engaged users?
Number of unique users who have made any form of activity with your post. This number includes any click on the post.
What is important for people talking about?
It is essential that this number is large as possible, but that depends on many factors and category in wich page is located. A smaller number doesn't means that people do not click on links or browse through picture galleries, because such interaction is not included in this metric.
What is not important for people talkin about?
It's not a problem if the ratio of the number of fans and this number is small. This means that the page has big potential. You should monitor your page, analyse competitors, offer benefits to fans and on that way raise quality of the page and in the same time talking about number.
Below are the averages of "people talking about" in Croatia considered the number of page fans - this should be a only metric by which community managers can compare their pages with pages of competition.
Based on approximately 90% of the pages, statistic on Croatian pages are:
• to 5k fans– 44.36
• to 10k fans – 259.88
• to 20k fans – 293.55
• to 50k fans – 808.67
• to 100k fans – 1073.07
• more than 100k fans – 5588.50
• average for all groups – 260.77
In our opinion categories are very important issue on Facebook. To see what work is done compared to competition, brand must orient by categories and see where it stands among its own category. Comparing furniture store and business media doesn't have much sense.
